Underwater Adventures

During our time in the Dominican Republic we had the opportunity to do some snorkeling.

We used my Pentax waterproof camera.  It takes pretty good pictures.

Can you see the fish in this picture?

Matthew found this conch shell.  He thought he found a treasure to take home, but somebody was living inside!

Caribbean Flounder

Octopus?

We took at least a hundred pictures of all the fish.
It was great that we could swim a short distance
and see such a nice variety.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a blessed day!

Camera Review

Warmer weather is finally here in Virginia.  That means we are spending a lot of time outdoors.

So I thought I would do a little review on what I call my adventure camera.  It is a Pentax OptioWG-1.  It is waterproof up to 33 ft, crush proof, cold proof, and shockproof.

I use this camera when ever we go hiking, kayaking snorkeling and biking. But today I am going to show you how well it works underwater.

I gave it to my kids and we all jumped into the pool.

Nothing like a little underwater photo shoot.
They are snapping pictures in 4 ft deep water.

The colors in our suits are really bright
for a point and shoot camera!
Don't laugh, I don't like going under water.

This is at around a 7ft. depth.
It still takes some pretty clear pics at around
10 feet away and at 7 ft deep.

It has a nice size screen in the back, but it is hard to see under the water.  But it is really clear when you are using it normally.
If you are going to take it snorkeling, kayaking or diving I would recommend buying a floating hand strap.  That way if it gets away from you, your camera will float up and you will not loose it.

I would give this camera a five star rating!
Thanks for "playing" with my camera guys!
It is a lot of fun and easy to use.
We are looking forward to using it as we snorkel next month in the Dominican Republic!
